Il Sung Na wurde in Seoul, Südkorea, geboren. Im Jahr 2001 zog er nach London, um an der Kingston University einen Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration und Animation zu absolvieren, wo er seine Leidenschaft für Kinderbücher entdeckte. Im Jahr 2015 schloss er seinen Master of Fine Arts in Illustration Practice am MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art) ab. Il Sung hat mehrere Bücher illustriert, darunter „Wild Peace“, „My Tree“ und „ZZZZ: A Book of Sleep“. Derzeit lebt Il Sung in Kansas City, unterrichtet Illustration am KCAI (Kansas City Art Institute) und arbeitet an neuen Büchern.
